She recently graduated from UC Davis with an Animal Science degree, specializing in Equine Science in 2022. In her free time, she loves to spend time playing clarinet, taking care of her houseplant addiction, and hanging out with her menagerie of pets which currently includes toads, rats, a beardie, and whatever foster cats and dogs come her way. She is currently a second year veterinary student at UC Davis, where she is exploring her interests in exotic animal medicine as well as shelter medicine. Lisa has been with Acorn since the spring of 2022. Not counting fosters her family currently consists of her other half, three dogs, four birds, two snake fish, and a lot more fish. Currently spends her free time volunteering at the animal shelter’s spay and neuter center, fostering birds, working with anxious and shut down dogs pulled from the shelter into rescue, aquascaping, reading, drawing, bike-joring, hiking, playing games, and watching crime shows. Finished her Associate’s Degree in Chemistry in 2020 at Sacramento City College. Graduated UCD with her service dog in 2019 with a degree in Companion Animal Science. Continued working with a variety of animals throughout her life as a volunteer at animal shelters, an emergency intern, and an avian research participant where she obtained various skill sets. Introduced to the veterinary field in 5th grade where she watched her first surgery. She enjoys spending time with her pets, friends and in the garden. She currently lives with and shows Borzoi, has cats and a bird. She has always been surrounded by animals. Ruth spent 18 years in private practice and 15 years in the shelter environment before returning to private practice in 2020 when she joined the Acorn team. Joseph has a passion and desire to learn about integrative medicine. Joseph has been working in the Veterinary field since 2012 as a Veterinary Assistant. Ophir plans to be a registered veterinary technician and in her free time enjoys spending time with family and her cat, Otter. She continues to come back to Acorn on her breaks while finishing her bachelor's degree in Animal Science at Cal Poly. Ophir started at Acorn in 2015 as an intern while she was still in high school, then was offered a position as a veterinary assistant until she graduated in 2017. In her spare time she enjoys playing the piano, ukulele, baking, and spending time with her two dogs. She passed the boards to become a registered veterinary technician in the summer of 2022. She graduated from Cosumnes River College with a degree in veterinary technology in the spring of 2022. She has been working with animals in a variety of settings since 2014. Rachel grew up in Davis and joined the Acorn team in 2020. She is excited to be part of the team at Acorn Veterinary Clinic and feels privileged to assist in the rehab center to improve the lives of our “senior” fur kids. Through the combination of both “worlds” She has gained a lot of experience handling dogs and cats of all temperaments. She worked at Woodland Veterinary Hospital for 18 years after which she spent 19 years working in shelter medicine. In her spare time, she enjoys doing agility with her 2 Shelties.īarbara has been a licensed Veterinary Technician since 1982. She became a Registered Veterinary Technician in 2012. On her off time she will be found hanging out with her horses. She earned her degree in Veterinary Technology and passed the board exams to become a Registered Veterinary Technician. She enjoys spending time outdoors barbequing with friends and family. In addition to her husband and two children she has two cats and two dogs. Kendra is crazy about plants and gardening, and enjoys a variety of other activities including singing, sewing, genealogy, and teaching yoga.Īlicia has been at Acorn since 2015. Nieces and nephews along with their dogs and ducks often visit. She currently shares her home with a variety of housemates including cats, koi, hens, and a house rabbit. Kendra grew up surrounded by animals of all kinds. She has an MS in Plant Physiology, and worked in the plant sciences for many years before joining Acorn.
